He knows I'm crazy over that one meal, so he saved some for me when he cooked it last Monday.
Sup merah is basically a tomato-based soup with any meat you want (usually we use sausages, chicken, and corned beef) plus potatoes, celery, carrots, onions, and garlic. That's all, I reckon. Oh, you can also add bacon bones (hang on, B, was it bacon bones or ham bones that you told me last night?) to enrich the flavor.. and some bay leaves perhaps? I never know the exact recipe, and I don't think anyone has one. This is a real home-y dish that everyone can cook and twist on.
The bread was just a slight improvement over the bread bowl I had previously made. I guess I was just too happy with the soup last night that at my Scripting Language tutorial, I kept thinking about making some bread to eat it with. And a bread basket was the result. (yes, I got the idea in the middle of working on Python - no idea how they relate to each other)
Thanks a lot, B! Truly, nothing is better than a hearty soup and bread on such cold autumn night...
