Nutella Day

It's Nutella Day today!

I have to admit I'm not a big fan of Nutella. When I was little I used to buy the combo one - Nutella with white chocolate spread - but as long as I can remember, I had never been able to finish the whole jar before the expiry date. I don't know why. Until now my favorite filling for bread is still chocolate with cheddar (the processed one which has butter and cream added, not the savoury cheddar).

But anyway, I don't deny that I like Nutella. And that sometimes, when I have some at home, I would also (like you guys do) lick it off the spoon.

So what did I bake? Nah. I didn't bake. I made.

If you are not sure what it is, it is a three-dimensional painting of flowers and leaves. Before I came up with this idea, I had wanted to draw something with Nutella and colored buttercream. The problem is, I don't want to spend too much money on food coloring. Then something popped up in my head: why not draw something using only Ferrero products? I know this is Nutella Day, not Ferrero Day, but hey, they still relate to each other. At least they are more related than.. Nutella with buttercream.

The flowers are made from raw hazelnuts and chopped Kinder Bueno.

Some of the leaves are made from chopped Ferrero Rocher shells. The palm leaf-shaped ones and also the stalks are painted using Nutella. Anyway, in the end I couldn't use only Ferrero products - I had to use melted dark compound chocolate to stick the pieces onto the paper.

Happy Nutella Day everyone!
